Instrumentation for MCAO

MCAO by itself can not produce data; it simply stabilizes the beam and restores the diffraction limit of the telescope. Therefore it has to come with instrumentation, designed along requirements derived from the study of the science case for MCAO, matched to the f/32 output beam of the MCAO system, and providing diffraction-limited image quality over the field of view. The infrared imager and multi-object spectrometer, Flamingos-2 , and the Gemini South Adaptive Optics Imager (GSAOI) are the instruments which will utilise the MCAO-corrected beam.
