passive (wind permitting)
-Wind Gates: Open/close in 1 minute can resist 78 mph (35 m/sec) wind while open
-Air Conditioning: Maintains telescope structure at expected ambient nighttime
temperature.
-Mirror Surface Heating: 96 electrode pairs mounted on edge of mirror send electrical
current through mirror coating to warm the cooled mirror to match the ambient
nighttime air temperature. System can provide 50 Watts/square meter of mirror surface.
